According to a poll of 109 historians, George W. Bush is the Worst. President. Ever, hobnobbing with the likes of Millard Fillmore, James Buchanan, Andrew Johnson, and Franklin Pierce at the bottom of the barrel.

Lawrence Lessig video on why he supports Obama

20 minutes or so on why I am 4Barack (Lessig Blog)

I wasn’t going to do this, but then someone ask me to do it, and someone else told me (to my horror — not that it would be insane for anyone, but insane for her) that she was for Clinton. So consider this my precinct captain duty for the lessig blog.

xkcd posts on politics

xkcd » Blog Archive » Politics

I want, for once, someone I can vote for not because I dislike the other candidate, but because I’m proud of mine. Obama is the real thing.

Just because I didn’t know any of this.

False statements preceded war

Study: False statements preceded war - Yahoo! News

A study by two nonprofit journalism organizations found that President Bush and top administration officials issued hundreds of false statements about the national security threat from Iraq in the two years following the 2001 terrorist attacks.

The study concluded that the statements “were part of an orchestrated campaign that effectively galvanized public opinion and, in the process, led the nation to war under decidedly false pretenses.”

How I Do

Incredibly intimate accounts of what it’s like to be and live with someone who has severe depression. My mom was bipolar and went most of her life untreated. The difference in my memories from my childhood and my adulthood when she had prozac is like night and day.

I suffer from something. My doctor never gave me a formal diagnosis but I and at least 3 of my cousins take prozac’s children and will the rest of our lives. (I keep telling you my family is crazy lol.)

The Art of the Thank You Note

The Simple Dollar » The Art of the Thank You Note

One art form that seems to have fallen by the wayside for many people is that of the handwritten thank-you note. A thank-you note is an elegant and inexpensive way to show appreciation to someone who has assisted you in some fashion and also is a stellar way to improve a potential business contact.

The inner girly girl in me yearns for a slower more elegant way of life.

Upgrade Your MacBook Pro’s Hard Drive

Upgrade Your MacBook Pro’s Hard Drive

It just so happens that we upgraded the hard drive in a MacBook Pro recently, so we thought we would provide you with a step-by-step photo tour of the right way to do it. Why would you want to do this? Well, in our case, it was to improve performance and increase capacity.

Very tempting.

Wide Width Shoes

I don’t even remember where this link came from but it’s a place that carries boots to fit wider width legs. My mom spent a lot of money on boots for me last year and was heart-broken when they didn’t fit.

I’m looking at:

The boot place links to a shoe place that also carries wides (and narrows) (http://www.marylandsquare.com). Since I’m always in need of nice stuff for work …

One of my co-workers saw me browsing and reccomended another place with both wides and narrows (http://comfortcorner.com/). Her idea of cute and good for work and mine differ but …

Basically this is the start of a wishlist for Christmas. Now that Mom’s gone no one has any idea what to get me.

[Edit: Since I was on a roll, I hit Zappos as well.]

Any opinions?

Are we too polite?

When did it become rude to call other people on their rudeness? Why can’t I tell the idiot that not only do I not want to hear her cell phone conversation, I’m deeply offended she’s carrying it on while she’s in a public restroom?
