Are we cursed?

I got a call from my Aunt Cookie last week that Mom’s doctor had said 2-4 weeks. Thursday, as Tanya and I were on our way down, my mom called and told me that my uncle in Texas had a massive heart attack. He actually died on the operating room table and they brought him back. Cookie is going to have a nervous breakdown soon.

The good news is that according to Mom, the doctor said 2 weeks to 4 months. She didn’t look that close to me or to Tanya (who’s an ICU nurse). Mom does look like someone covered every inch of skin with yellow highlighter though. I think having Tanya, Bill and I visit cheered her up a lot because we were the only ones who weren’t acting like she was going to go any minute. Which she might but acting like it just depresses her and wastes the little time she has left.

We got her set up with a laptop and wifi since she has trouble sitting at her desktop computer. She was really pleased to have Internet access again. It’ll make her happy to be able to keep in contact with out of town friends and family.

There was a lot of stuff I didn’t get done that I needed to but I think keeping Mom connected to life will be the best I can do for her. The rest can wait.
