StopBadware.org
StopBadware.org is a “Neighborhood Watch” campaign aimed at fighting badware. We will seek to provide reliable, objective information about downloadable applications in order to help consumers to make better choices about what they download on to their computers. We aim to become a central clearinghouse for research on badware and the bad actors who spread it, and to become a focal point for developing collaborative, community-minded approaches to stopping badware.

Working at night
It sure is less painful to be stuck at the desk for 4 hours tonight than usual. Could it have something to do with the amount of caffiene I’ve had? ;->

1200 shoes that come in wide! Some I would even wear! I’m keeping this for the next time I have money for new work shoes.

More bad news
My grandmother is having yet more problems. She finally gave up the incompetent jerk when he didn’t visit her in the hospital. With decent medical care she’s been sent to a neurologist who diagnosed her with neuropathy in not just her feet and legs (like her 2 sisters, her brother and her daughter) but also in her hands and arms. It’s so far advanced she needs physical therapy.
The cancer in her gall bladder had spread out to the edges. They need to go back in and check for more cancer but during an exam they found out she had blood clots in her legs (That was how Mom’s pulmonary embolism started). They put a stent in so she should have to go through that too. But it means putting off the exploratory surgery.
While she was recovering from the stent, a young doctor came in and basically told her to give up because she was going to die. As if she wasn’t depressed enough. If my aunt ever finds out who he is, he’s a dead man.
Now they’re thinking she might have spinal stenosis.
It just doesn’t seem to end.

Things I learned over Christmas
- Keep going to the ER until they figure what’s wrong and fix it.
- Medical care can actually be better in a small town than a large city. The people have more time to focus on individual patients.
- I have a wonderful boss (actually, I knew that).
- Dilaudid is one of the strongest pain meds they proscribe. (They kept repeating this as I was telling them it wasn’t working.)
- Kidney stones don’t always hurt in back.
- There’s a Nurse Practitioner in the ER who remembers me. I’ve been there way too many times.
Christmas wasn’t fun. It took too many visits to various ERs and my own doctor over 3 weeks to finally find out that my kidney stone that was too big to pass was trying to pass and blocking my right kidney. I wound up having out-patient surgery where they stretched out the tube to get it out and inserted a stent. Unfortunately, the stent came out in recovery. A nurse practitioner who works for the urologist came over ans tried to shove it back in place. Without anesthetic. This hurt a lot. She didn’t get it in the right place so they put me back under and took me back to surgery. Luckily, it stayed in the second time.
They worst part of the whole thing wasn’t the pain but the nausea. I didn’t really eat the whole time it was going on. Strangely, the morning they took the stent out, I came out of the office nauseous but by the time we got to Shoney’s I was fine and I haven’t had any problems since.
I’m back at work now and grateful it’s Friday. I didn’t get any rest over Christmas and I need this weekend desperately. Unfortunately, all my leave time has been used up being sick so I can’t take off ever again.

Daemon

DOG - Your daemon may be a dog if you are loyal and
caring, and like to know what is expected of
you. You probably are very family oriented, and
have a small group of friends that you are very
close to, rather than a large group of
acquaintances. You dislike confrontation, but
you will stand up and fight for the people and
issues that you really care about. You may
prefer someone else to take the lead in a
situation, although you would rather take the
lead yourself than have the situation fall
apart. You probably enjoy routine and order,
but that doesn’t mean you don’t like to have
fun. If anything, your friends probably know
you for getting intense, child-like pleasure in
the small things in life.
