The Tagomatic

The Tagomatic - Have You Tagged It?
The Tagomatic is an index of Bands, Movies, Books, and Web Sites that is void of genres. Everything is indexed by what it is similar to. The community can tag any item as being similar to any other item to create a more useful index of entertainment media.

Very cool

WoWWiki

Ok, soi I’m probably the last person to find the WoWWiki. There’s a paper in how the players use Internet resources for community-building and information-sharing…

particletree · Get Your JavaScript Groove On

There’s got to be a million different strategies to approaching a JavaScript project. And since I’m always interested in trying to improve the resources and techniques I use to work on our projects, it seems appropriate to share my JavaScript development environment in case anyone might have suggestions for improvement.

Rant Time

Why does the tough chick in the dark fantasy novels have to fall into the arms of the guy she doesn’t like? And on his terms. It’s got to be for the fan boys because as a woman I just want to kick her ass. Too many books recently have followed the same pattern.

I really miss the old Anita. If she ever gets her head on straight she’ll once again be a breath of fresh air.

I can’t escape

Got an email from Mom. Her sister has just been diagnosed with neuropathy in her feet. Makes 4 out of my grandmother’s 5 kids (one uncle died young) plus a first-cousin (not one of which has been diabetic). I’d say it was officially hereditary. I have much pain and disability in my future.

Cheap, Fast, and Disposable

Teal Sunglasses: More about IT:Cheap, Fast, and Disposable | AntonellaPavese.com

The opposite side of that? IT organizations that forget why they’re there: which is to build the tools the company succeeds with. I’ve seen far too many IT organizations that become interested in self-perpetuation. Dilbert’s Mordac lists, and thrives, in too many companies. Their budgets bloat, their staffing escalates, and they build huge moats and walls between them and the customers with process and bureaucracy and standards and forms that they become hated, or feared. and worse, other organizations start sneaking around them and implementing hteir own solutions (be honest: does your engineering organization have it’s own “mini IT” to do things you don’t want to let IT have its hands on? Yeah, I thought so)
