Doll Maker
eLouai’s Candybar Doll Maker is pretty much what it sounds like, but much more addictive. I started playing with it this afternoon and lost about 4 hours before I realized it. I’ll post some screenshots later.

Batman Begins
The Batman Begins trailor is cool. It looks sortof like they’re scrapping all of the previous movies and starting from the beginning with a different, less cartoony, direction. Actually, it felt a little like “Tomb Raider.” I think the comic fans will be happier with this one than the others.

Gravatar - Globally Recognized Avatar
Gravatar - Globally Recognized Avatar
This is interesting. You sign up for an account an whenever you post on a site that supports it your avatar shows up next to your name.
They’ve already got a plugin for my software and are working on one for LiveJournal. Anybody interested in my installing it here?

opensourceCMS
I was sure I had posted this before but I can’t find it now. Content management systems (CMSs) are almost required for managing a website if it has any size and is updated regularly at all.
opensourceCMS is a site that allows you to try a number of free, open-source systems without having to install them on your own server first.

htAccess Generater
.htaccess files let you set directory specific options on your Apache webserver. It’s very powerful but not the easiest thing to figure out on your own. htAccess Generater lets you set variables in a form, then creates the actual file for you.

New Toy
I have a DVR. My VCR never worked right with my new tv so this is the first time I’ve been able to record since I moved. And I get BBC!
Overall, it’s good. But the guide people have serious usability issues. There are almost 1000 channels and I’m only interested in what’s showing on maybe 100 of them. But since there’s no filtering function for the screen guide, I have to spend 10 minutes flipping through them all to find out what’s coming on. By which time I’ve forgotten what I found.
All hail the Web ;-> Zap2it lets you register and set your channel provider, then choose a list of the channels you want to see. Their color scheme is awful but overall the interface is great and the service is certainly useful!

MMOG Chart
An Analysis of MMOG Subscription Growth is a chart showing the growth of MMOGs (Massive Multiplayer Online Games). It’s interesting for comparison. I’d like to see how City of Heroes matches up since it was such a success at the 4th party.

The Faerie Citadel
The Faerie Citadel is Ren Faire type stuff, not SCA but it’s cute anyway. The stuff is very pretty with nice details. Check out the Pet Wings for a giggle.

Clear as a Bell
And later the same afternoon, it is now bright and sunny outside.
If you don’t like the weather, wait 10 minutes.

Stormy Weather
It is noon and pitch black outside. The weather forcast is for moderate to severe thunderstorms but it looks closer to tornado conditions.
The rain just started. From drops to sheets of water in the blink of an eye. The back of the building has huge windows so I’m getting a pretty good view. You know when you’re in the car wash and the water is shot directly at your car? That’s what it looks like, but heavier.

BlogCo
BlogCo is a more advanced layout. I’m very pleased with the way it looks. I think it would be appropriate for a company homepage. I am not pleased with the compromises I had to make to get it to work in Internet Explorer. There’s a bug where both IE’s pass the parent’s clear property on to the children, even when the children have a different property specified. So, there’s some extraneous markup to clear the floats. But it’s not much and the reality is that in business sites, compromises are common.

I think the world is ending
I was driving home flipping through radio stations when I heard the guys on Rock 103 (Classic Rock) talking about Manga. There’s just something so wrong in that.
In other news, We’re getting DVRs next Tuesday and I redesigned my other site. Let me know what you think.
