Serious Stuff
You guys know I hate politics but there are some things I can’t ignore.
The revolution inside John Ashcroft’s Justice Department an array of new crime-prevention powers embodied in the Patriot Act has been fueled by the attorney general’s ambition intelligence and unusually extreme beliefs about everything from the similarities between himself and Jesus to the post-9/11 role of law enforcement, to the purported demonic properties of calico cats. But as nervous sources share stories of his Missouri governorship, and former stagers and Senate allies speak out, JUDY BACHRACH discovers that Ashcroft has also sparked a growing backlash one with surprisingly bipartisan power.

So much in so little time
So much has been happening that every-time I thought about writing about it, I got overwhelmed. It’s slowed down now so let’s see what I can remember.

A Family Affair
I have a cousin named Jessica in her early twenties. Her first year of college she got pregnant and married, in that order. Her husband hasn’t had a job for most of their marriage and in fact his relatives stole a very large amount of money from her father. Generally, he’s been less that worthless.

(He had already wrecked multiple cars so his name wasn’t on the insurance for this one.) They were arguing in the front with her younger sister and their children in the back when suddenly he wrenched the wheel out of her hands causing the car to crash. Luckily, he was the only one seriously hurt (except their daughter who’s now terrified of cars).

Home Filtering
I thought I could wait until I moved to get new furniture but it’s just not working. I’m going nuts confined in a tiny space made tinier by furniture on all side. I’ve also been watching too many organizing shows. I’ve cut my clothes down by like half and I’m working on the rest of my stuff now.

I must say that it feels good to let go of so much. It’s like dropping that backpack from the Labyrinth. It’s also easier to put stuff away because there’s more space.
