Books
I am officially addicted to reading books off my PDA. The convenience way outweighs the problems and Baen does good formatting. I’ve signed up with Baen WebScriptions and bought the third Honor Harrington and the new Miles Vorkosigan. Now I just have to decide which to read first!

Music
Apple has released a new music service which predictably has better terms of service and a much better user interface than previous offerings from people dealing with the big 5 music companies. It still doesn’t have everthing I want but it’s a huge step.
On the other hand, someone mentioned EMusic which has more independants and smaller names but much better rules. For $10/month you can download as much as you like in non-protected MP3 format. Really encourages experimenting with new artists. They could do a great tie-in if they started an Internet rtadio station where you could just tune in and listen to new artists while you worked.
Anyway, I’ll have to try it soon.

Speaking of interesting questions…
Working at a medical library brings in the most interesting ideas. I just had a call from someone who wanted the number of a sperm clinic.

Baen Free Library
For some reason, I just now found out about the Baen Free Library. Bean Books publishes a lot of science fiction and fantasy works. Since 2000, they’ve had the library up where they post electronic versions of some of their books for free in various formats. It’s not unknowns, either. They have stuff by:
- Lois McMaster Bujold
- Mercedes Lackey
- Holly Lisle
- and David Weber
The introduction by Eric Flint and his newsletter “Prime Palaver” are full of wonderfully practical views on the online piracy debate, for books and music, complete with responses from users and the actual experiences of content producers who have released material for downloading.
It’s a great place for finding out is you like a listed writer’s style. *Makes mental note to finally find out if she likes the Honor harrington series.*

Good drugs
I started to get one of my migraines last night and took a couple of the pills that Tanya gave me. They work really well except they knock me out and make me goofy as hell. I went to bed at 6:30, got up at 7:45 and went back at 8. When I went back, I lay there for a few minutes and thought that I might as well get up since I wasn’t going to sleep. I looked at the clock and it was an hour later. I rolled over and went back to sleep and didn’t get up again until 6:30 this morning.

Relaaaxed
It’s good to be ahead on schoolwork. I can take my time and do the big projects left at my own pace without having to cram everything into a too small timeframe.
I’ve been playing with my laptop to create a gorgeous new layout. (Look Lethann, graphics!) And I’ve got another one in the works.
I will get to that book email, sometime. And I think I’ve finally got a decent supervisor and project for an independent study. I just have to finish the paperwork.
Once I get my prescription problems worked out, things will be good.

UltraViolet
I’ve added a new three-column template called UltraViolet. It works in Netscape 7/Mozilla, IE 5 on Mac, IE 6 on PC and the latest Safari beta. Be sure and use Netscape 7/Mozilla or Safari if you have one of them, they’re the only ones who get the cool hover effect on the side navigation menu.
I’ve also added thumbnails of all of my layouts to the index page for easier browsing.
